IntelliCyt® Technology

IntelliCyt Corporation was the first to commercialize a true high throughput suspension screening platform for biologics discovery, small molecule discovery, in vitro toxicology and numerous other cellular research areas. This platform addresses the gap that existed in phenotypic screening where the low sample throughput and high sample volume have limited flow cytometry from becoming a practical suspension screening tool.

Our patented technology extends the capabilities of flow cytometry by increasing sample throughput far beyond current commercial offerings.  A unique sampling method transfers cells or other contents from wells in a microplate to the flow cytometer in a continuous, air gap delimited stream. This novel method dramatically reduces the time required to analyze a microplate and the amount of sample required for analysis by eliminating the dead volume inherent in typical flow cytometry sampling.  For example, a 96 well plate can be processed in 3 minutes using 2ul per well (384 wells in 12 minutes).

The result is a new approach to large scale screening of individual cells, beads, and microbes…an approach called High Capacity Flow (HCF). HCF completes the “high content” toolset as a complementary technology to High Content Imaging (HCI) by providing individual cell measurements, multiplexing targets using the spectrum of fluorescent probes available, and collecting multi-parameter data on size, granularity,  and target intensities while reducing or eliminating artifacts that plague plate reader approaches.

Physiological Relevance – Provides a more optimal assay environment than imaging for non-adherent cell types such as blood cells, hybridomas or stem cells.

Statistical Relevance –  Analyses large numbers of objects/well in short timeframes  to provide population phenotyping of subtle changes and rare events.

High Sensitivity and Dynamic Range – Provides greater differentiation between objects, allowing very dim and bright signals to be simultaneously collected.

HTFC® Screening System –  A “scalable capacity” offering, the HTFC System is a completely integrated suspension screening platform utilizing a dedicated detector chosen for its exceptional dynamic range (6 decades) and internal functional simplicity.
